Here for a moment, the next one gone
Recycled stardust and gas
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
You know that all things must pass
Define a moment as one
million years
The insignificance of now
One human lifetime, a twinkle of light
Only one chance to get it right
Emerging from the cave and gazing up into the open sky
Prehistoric man, he wonders why he can’t fly
I'm dreaming, effortlessly
floating in the air
I think I'd like to see what's over there
But as I'm turning to leave I realize that gravity's holding me back
Upset the balance, alter the course
Ultimate outcome unclear
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
Perhaps the answer is near
One small blue planet, the
cradle of life
Sometimes we feel so all alone
Precious and fragile, adrift in the void
The only home we've ever known
And billions of machines belching noxious gasses to the
sky
Has anyone considered how or why planets die
I'm dreaming - I must be dreaming once again
I think I'd like to see the master plan
But it's eluding us still, just like it has
Ever since the beginning of time... |
