6. TIME TO GO

What kind of world shall we leave our children
And generations yet to come
We’re so preoccupied with wealth and power
Where do these attitudes come from?
Writing our legacy, we will be judged
By the choices we made in our time

In a recurring dream I saw a vision
Of what the future held for me
And it would lead me to a life decision
Of what my purpose in this world would be
History shows us again and again
We can do anything if we try

“We set sail on this new sea, because there is new knowledge to be gained and new rights to be won. Because space science, like nuclear science and all technology has no conscience of its own. Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on Man. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”

Now we’re wasting time can’t you see
We can go and tap the vast resources out in space
Knowledge we can use to make our world a better place
Have you heard the work has begun
They’ve decided to build Island One

And so the plans were drawn and contracts tendered
There is much that must be done
My firm was chosen as a software vendor
And I am bound for Island One


During construction I completed training
And I’m ready for the show
Although quite arduous I’m not complaining
And it will soon be time to go
I think it’s time to go
